Is is me or does it seem like fulltilt favores the bigstack in poker tourny's?I have seen the most insane almost unbelivable(except for it happend)bad beats against the shorter stacks.Don't get me wrong im not into the whole conspiracy theroy thing some people get involved in but seriously i see it way to much on that site.So can thier really be a system in palce to kill the shorter stacks deep in tourn'ys???Im not saying thats the case but it sure seems like it sometimes.

I played a bunch of freerolls on Stars tonight just to kill some time. Now, I find myself 199/435 in the "The Big Game" round 1 satty where 300 make it to the next game ... on Saturday the 3rd.
Only problem is: I have to be out of town all day this Saturday!
This has happened to me more than once too... I won a satty into the NPT Venetian about a month ago that I couldn't play either.
Wish I could play on my mobile phone...

Can Phil Hellmuth undergo a complete transformation?
Will rubber bands become poker's next must-have bling?
These are questions I asked myself after reading the cover story of April's Bluff Magazine. The cover features a photo of Sam and a handful of poker players with the caption "The Mindset Guru...Sam Chauhan is Inside the Head of Poker's Best".
Avid Bluff readers might know Sam's name because he writes a monthly column for the magazine, or because of the recognition he got after Antonio Esfandiari's game turned completely around because of working with him.
The article itself is titled "Head Games" and is pretty much a testimony to the effectiveness of Sam's techniques by such players, in addition to Antoniio, as Paul Wasicka, Josh Arieh, and Gavin Smith. Other poker playing clients, like Mark Seif, are mentioned.
Central to Sam's technique is a common household rubber band which he has his clients wear on their wrists. Whenever they think a negative thought they're supposed to snap that band hard, so it hurts.
Paul Wasicka says, "The rubber band is one thing Sam's been working with me on...I need to get more consistent with it, but basically it's a way for me to snap back into the zone, get back into the moment."
But now there's a new kid on the block seeking Sam's assistance, none other than Phil Hellmuth. Sam says who Phil really is outside of poker is like night and day compared to his public persona. Sam feels confident that we'll see a whole new Phil this year. No more tantrums or putting down other players, etc., etc.
Of working with Sam, Phil says his decision to deep six the Poker Brat image has nothing to do with Sam, that he had made that decision before signing up with him.
He continues, "So I have decided that I just don't want to scream and yell and berate people and get so negative. Sam probably didn't want me to be negative, but [emphasis mine] I'm the one that decided to get rid of the Poker Brat image...I also told Sam, 'Look, I'm going to have a really big year with or without you, so you're going to end up getting credit for this..."
Hmmm...so what do you think? Unlike the proverbial leopard, can Phil change his spots?
Personally, I just can't see him transforming into a personality like Mike Sexton or Chip Reese when he was alive. If he somehow pulls this off,I suspect I'll be even less interested in the new Phil than I am the Poker Brat now. At least the Brat has entertainment value.

I have been selling my play money chips for real money chips for little over a year along with winning freeroll money on
pokerstars . I was thinking , I know allot of people do the same thing . So if so many people did this and never deposited their own money , Would that cause any disruption of any kind to the
poker site . Could it cause in negative effects to the poker sites business ? If more and more people do sell their play chips for real money chips and the volume of the people doing this gets larger and larger would it have a negative effect on the poker sites business
if their is negative effects towards the poker sites business , wouldn't it be wise for them to keep track of these players that never buy in with their own money ? I think if i was the poker site i would want to know this , And if I found that their was a negative effect i would want to do something about it !!! What would that something be ????
Thanks for your time ,
Sincerely Tony

I've stumbled across this GREAT computer based poker timer. If you have a laptop or a PC near your game, fire this timer up. You can use their web based version, or DL it to your computer. You can change the blinds, antes and insert breaks!!

I tried searching and didn't see this posted. Sorry if I've stumbled across something already posted.

Curious what the forum thinks is easier to do - move from cash to tournament play or tournament to cash game play. Which type of player has a bigger edge when switching formats and why?

Quick question.
Do we have any full-time poker pros at CC? What I mean is poker is your primary income.
Just curious.

Have you ever tried this as a strategy, be it in a live game or online:
Purposely play like a donk and try to get lucky on someone to get them to tilt and help build a table image.
Then solidify your game and have them tilt off a lot more $$ your way.

I've recently turned into a PLO-aholic. I think it's the future of poker - at least I hope the game catches on more in the US. NLHE just seems so boring once you start logging a lot of PLO hours.
I wish more live card rooms would spread it... Vegas and some places in the south seems to be the only places where one can find a game.
Anyhow, just curious, how many of you here play PLO?

I've just started playing these $12 180 Player Turbos.
They seem to be packed full with loads of donks.
Obviously variance is massive in these with so many people but they seem very profitable.
I have only played about 30 of them and already had to 2 first places.

Is there any sort of legal a body out there (gaming commission?) that investigates potential cases of cheating/mechanics at a licensed gambling establishment?
Without going into the details right now, I suspect there was something unsavory going on at card house I played in a couple of nights ago. It's a pretty "off the beaten path" place which somewhat increases the sketchiness factor. That was the first time in my 3+ years of poker that I felt that way.

I am new member. As a new member they allow you only 2 threads in a 24 hour period. I understand the reasoning for this and have no problem with it. However, the other day I was deep in a tournament and would have appreciated some railers. I tried to put out a rail call and they wouldn't allow me since I already had posted 2 threads. I don't think a rail call should count as a thread! Is there a way around this so a rail call doesn't count as a thread? Even though I did come in first in the tourney. The support would have been appreciated.

The New Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia says that playing cards originated in Hindustan about 800 C.E., with the king, queen, and jack dating from the Middle Ages. A Chinese dictionary of 1678 C.E. states that they were invented in the year 1120 B.C.E. for the amusement of Seun-Hos concubines. Some antiquarians say that playing cards were introduced into Europe by the invading Saracens who crossed the Mediterranean in the year 711 C.E. Others claim that the Crusaders brought back playing cards from the East. There is some agreement, however, on the fact that cards were not commonly used in Europe before the first part of the 15th century. Some investigators have thought that playing cards found their way from East to West by the same means as chess, through that race of wanderers known as Gypsies. It is of interest to note that, in many places, chess also was played with cards. Spain introduced playing cards to the "New World," the Americas, when Cortez conquered Mexico. King Montezuma took great pleasure in watching the Spanish soldiers play cards.

Do you think there are a very large number of people who are discouraged from playing becuase of online poker's technical illegality in America, or do most people who want to just do it anyway?
What do you guys think?
I don't live in America so don't know this and whether it will really alter the online industry by legalising it.
Also is it actually difficult for a lot of people living in America to deposit and withdraw from
poker sites?

I really enjoy playing on-line, but there is nothing like playing in a live tourney. Being able to observe the faces and body language of your opponents adds a whole new aspect to the game. To get a good read on your opponents is priceless.
Anyone who has never played live I hope you get your chance soon. It is so much fun!!! I have played several times at Showboat in Atlantic City. Has anyone else played there? It is a well run tourney. Hope to see ya there. LOL:cheers:

Today Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) plans to introduce the Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act of 2010, an updated bill that would allow taxes and fees to be collected on Internet gambling wagers. Building on a previous version of the bill introduced in 2009 which permitted federal taxes to be collected, this version would allow each State and Tribal Government to collect a six percent tax on all online gambling deposits placed in their jurisdiction. It would also allocate 25 percent of the federal revenue collected to helping children in foster care.
During a time when nearly every state is facing budget shortfalls, this additional tax will generate up to $30 billion over 10 years for State and Tribal governments, giving members of Congress another good reason to consider replacing UIGEA with regulation.
For more information, be sure to check out this article from The Hill.

Is there a SnG that you consider easiest to consistently be ITM? Although payout is not great, I consider the Single Table Double or Nothing Turbo on
PokerStars to be good. Next, on FullTilt, the Single Table, 9 person Turbo that pays 3 people followed by the 6 person Turbo that pays 2 people.
What is your easiest and most consistent for being ITM? How about
BoDog?

In an interview with
Card Player, the American Gaming Association (AGA) announced that they are now open to the concept of Internet gambling, as long as regulation effectively protects players and the integrity of the game.
This marks a big change from their previously neutral position on legalizing Internet gambling. Were excited about this news, which we think is a big win for the online gambling community. To read more of the interview, click

Have to say the PAD cash game is incredibly boring, especially compared to the lineup on HSP. But Hellmuth getting soul-pwn3d by Brandon Adams could make this week watchable.
Matusow raises to AJ and Hellmuth just smooth calls on the BTN with TT. Brandon Adams decides it's a perfect time for a squeeze with Tc7c. Matusow folds and Hellmuth decides to reraise. Adams puts in a fourth raise and Hellmuth calls. The pot is around $35k, aka each player has about a PSB left. The flop comes Q 8 2 with two clubs, and Adams instashoves the flops.
Hellmuth lolfolds.
OMGWTF
if he thinks Adams is making a move "I put him on AK at best," folding a flop that safe is beyond absurd. Is he set-mining in a 5-bet pot?

OK, limping is the cardinal sin of so many players I post with here. I am reading Harrington on Holdem, have read Phill Gordens little green book, and watch a lot of instructional videos, just yesteday also from Phil Gordon. Harrington talks about limping to see a cheap flop, and Gordon as well. I play mainly SnG and MTT. SO if so many people here shout STOP LIMPING, is that an absolute, or are we speaking about the exception to the rule. Cause both above mentioned players recommend limping in certain situations that come up regularly. And while I do admit I was limping in all the wrong places and with the wrong hands, which I have really been working on correcting in my game, I still see places where it seems to be a viable play. Comments???

I found these 2 poker test on the WSoP website one is for cash games the other is for tournaments. It has you play 20 hands of cash if you go broke it reloads for you, The tournament gives you different levels and positions in the tournament and grades you after you have completed all the hands.
My scores were
Cash 114
tournament 101
And here I thought I was a better tournament player LOL

I thought about which section to put this in and I guess it fits here. I joined this forum 4 or 5 weeks ago and started reading through any post I could find. I haven't posted much because I took so much time looking at how good players view every possible situation. I've never been part of a
poker forum before and quite honestly have never done much studying on the subject such as books and so forth. I knew the rules of the game and figured that was enough. Dead wrong!
Let me tell you a little bit about my poker back story so you know where I'm going with this.
I played for 4 years and always lost. Don't know the exact amount but it was in the thousands. So I figured I just wasn't that good at the game and quit. After a year and a half I got the itch again to play. This was back in November. Again the losing happened. This time about $800. Getting frustrated again I went looking for help and stumbled across this site. Like I said earlier I read the thought process that winning players went through and started to apply them.
I use a pre-paid CC to deposit for online poker and only had $15 bucks left on it. So I put it on UB just so I could play a couple of $2-$5 tournies. Well with my new look at poker(due to this site) I've gone on a pretty good run. In the past 2 weeks since that $15 deposit I've been able to turn that into $3,400. This is not meant to be a brag, but to point out the power of cardschat. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have done this if I had not joined here.
So the point being to any new people who would be willing to really put in the study time and listen to what these people are trying to tell you. Sorry if this is long, but just thought it need to be said.
Thank You cardschat and all it's members!

Somebody help me please?
I have deposited on FTP three times since starting to play poker online, in May 09, of amounts of $30, $30 and $40. Admittedly I have lost it all... damned cash games!! However, I have learnt a lot since starting out and I am slowly beginning to see results and address the balance.
However I have had 2x freeroll wins of $15, and (thanks to CC) a 5th place ITM finish of $24... added to this my $50 bonus from completing last years 'Take 2' promo. By my reckoning, a total of $104.
When I look at my profile on PTR it shows an overall loss of -$118(?). It seems that whilst PTR is logging my losses, it does not take into account my winnings from freerolls & bonuses. So where DO I stand?
Admittedly, when I started to play online, I was a little afraid that I would end up with spiralling debts, as you sometimes hear the stories of the guy that put up his house on a hand of poker etc., but I feel quite proud of the fact that I have managed to keep this under control. My addiction is with the game of poker... not in gambling.
I would like to think that I have broken even over the course of the last year, but PTR says otherwise. Am I just deluding myself or are there flaws in PTR's calculations?
I notice that freeroll winnings are not included on the OPR website either.

I play texas holdem with my friends every weekend and the are all loose passive they play to see the pot no matter what and it gets frustrating here is an example, I was dealt pocket AA the blinds are only 5-10 i raise it up to 90 everyone folds except 1 player and the flop comes Q,4,8, i check he bets 50 i raise to 2 dollars he calls so im thinking he has Qeens, next card comes out i forgot what it was he bets again i push all in he calls and he flips over 4,8 off suit and i was mad how do u call a raise with 4,8 off suit so how should i play players like this ur opinions would be great thinks,

Last weekend I was in a tournament and saw a dispute over how the dealer split the pot. At this stage in the tournament we had colored up to where we only used $500 chips. It was folded to the button who shoved with a rag ace and was called by the bb with something similar but was worse than the buttons hand. The board made a straight and they had to split the pot. the dealer gave each person back the same amount of chips they had before but gave the guy in the bb the extra chip from the sb. The guy on the button starts to bitch about it and how his hand was better etc. The dealer just ended up throwing him a chip from the raci so he'd quit whining. My question is who did the sb's really belong to in that situation?

I sold many play chips to get to 80 bucks a few times way back about 2 years ago and everytime I would try and play ring games that where beyond my bankroll manaegement I would be drawn or loose with big hands to bigger hands (like 12 15 times in a row). ... if i played mtts I would allways do pretty good. But soon as i went to a ring game i would get beat at the river or get dealt trips and loose to higher trips . Does anyone have a a story about their free money they built up ?

I'm sorry if this is against the site policy for publicly posting this subject here. I have no intention to "advertise" another site.
My question is what rakeback service is the best available for Full Tilt. So far, the maximum I was able to find is 27%. Not only am I looking for the highest % rakeback, but also promotions that go along with it. Things like monthly freerolls and contests. Your opinion is appreciated!:D

I've heard a great deal mentioned about session and hand analysis, so I'd like to get some opinions are on exactly the best way to do this, or how people here do this, or if you can point me in the right direction to find this information. Is this something that I should be doing after every session - making notes and reviewing my marked hands?
I have a feeling this is very critical skill/process to improve my game, so I'm looking for advice on the best way to do it.

I have about 60$ in my bankroll after withdrawing. I just won a 9 man sit-n-go that I registered with FTP. I won entry into the main event. If I unregister, do I bank 50$?

I've got an 'A' game, I know it, many of you know it, and most all of you also have an 'A' game, I have seen it and been punished by your 'A' games, as you have been punished by mine.
At least a few, if not most of you seem able to bring your 'A' game more often than I can. At this is at the heart of my conundrum.
-I do know that even tho I consider myself to be patient, my patience often falters and that is NOT MY 'A' Game.
-I know that the cards, or rather MY REACTION TO MY CARDS, plays big in both my patience and my playing the
poker game. I know perfectly well that the cards are of lessor importance than many other factors, yet, I falter.
-Certainly easy to control are external distractions, and my own boredom (or is it easy to control?). But the immediate panic of housemates refuses solution (I usually go to an emergency sit-out). I don't have kids around so that hasn't been any problem, pity those who do......;)
So help me out here, and in the process help us all out here describing what you consider the things are that prevent you from bringing your 'A' game.

Hi All
Sometimes when other people, dont use their brains and mess it up for others.. also the ones who keep on repeately bluffing througout .. but then i guess there are other rooms.. Also some clearly need to go to beginners school as they have no clues whats so ever.. And some i think ruin it cus they have so much money they just play the real money rooms for actuall fun, which means they dont play seriously as they dont care if they loose or win as its fun to them...

Hi,
i was watching a guy named tuff_fish on youtube and he recorded himself while he was playing online at
pokerstars and
ultimate bet. they are the funniest videos because you can see how angry he gets and how he vents, and we all go through the same thing. If anyone knows who he is, and if anyone knows what happened to tuff_fish, i would like to know.
Trust me, the videos are hilarious.

Ok, I consider myself an average tournament player, below average cash player. What I want to know is how are the
poker sites making any money?
I log a losing session..maybe 1 of 4...losing month 1 of 12, never had a losing year.
I have at least 30
poker sites downloaded, think I am down at one(hint: I HATE POKERSTARS)
What I want to know is, who is depositing? Who is losing money? Are all the doctors watching too much wsop on tv with deep pockets and no common sense supporting us(and the sites)? Who in their right mind would keep depositing and losing? I know the sites make their money off of rake and tourney fees, but I don't know of one single online player who will admit to being a loser. Do you?
ALL LOSING PLAYERS POST YOUR NAMES HERE, I WILL ADD U AS FRIENDS
I didn't think so.
I guess where I'm going with this is, I believe the
online poker sites are a pyramid scheme, a house of cards held up by depositors, doomed to come crashing down on our heads....just my opinion, I could be wrong.(shamelessly stolen from Dennis Miller)

I heard WiltOnTilt from another
poker site discuss in his great video series Mathematics of NL Hold'em that one only knows ones true pot
odds is when one closes the action. So, if that is true, then when I am not closing the action what do the
pot odds mean and why? He didn't go much more into detail about this topic.

of a website that tracks freeroll results....inquiring minds would like to know....:icon_smur there must be some where......

I saw a thread that said there was a $1.50 tourney to win Dusty's book but couldn't find it. Anyone know where/when it is? Be nice in this economy to win it.

I didn't hear about this until recently but its pretty scary that 5-6 men can rob a casino in the broad daylight, as far as I know they haven't charged anyone with the crime. This incident might have an impact on the game of poker but most likely not that big of a deal, especially because nobody was hurt.

I just recently found out that my non showdown profits had a steady negative line and my showdown earnings have a steady positive line. Just tryin to get a feel for this situation and what others who have this have done and how they have adjusted. I'm tight, but table ratings says I'm more agressive than 50% of the population, so it's not like i'm overly passive. What do you guys think?

Hehe that is a large amount ive got to admit :)

I know, I know it really sounds like an easy Question to answer correct? Yet I don't really want some Kiddy answer like "I know I'm good, when My BR is up", or like "Cuz I'm constantly winning"...I mean realistically, there's ppl that Are always winning, yet are they really good? It could all be thought up as a long Up Swing Variance, being good to them, Could it Not? Yes there Ok (I guess) to always be a winning player, but are they realistically good, or very good/excellent? I've been thinking lately alot about playing the Sunday Million/Warm-up events, and yes It's realistically steep for me to even phatom (Throwing) $215:eek: , in-to that Tourney and truethfully, I'd be Choked if I did'nt atleast come out ITM, but the thing about it is, the Players that do win them, Minus the actual Highstakes players that play in them, the rest are just your average Joe correct? So with that being said, are they good to have won that Tourney, or were they just destined to win it? Hold on to this for a minute..
Now lets assume you won it, $215,000.00, this does'nt neccissarly make you good/average/above average, pro, or anything down those lines correct, it just means you were a 1 time thing, correct? There-fore, you can't really think a person who wins this tourney is a good player correct? So with this thinking what actually defies a good player? Personally even if I were to win the Sunday Million, I would'nt think I'm any where near good/decent/average for many reasons, but Primarely I'd have to atleast win it another 3 times in 1 year to even think I'm decent/Good/Average of a player Correct? I said 3 because I figure the 1st was fluke, Lady Luck, the 2nd good just be Lady Luck again, but 3rd well then that's just lets a person have that boost of confidence, and actually lets him/her, Know there doing something correct? There-fore then and only then can they actually start thinking there Good, Correct?
Now here's my question to you all, what defies a good player? What builds a good player? I'm not talking pro, I'm not talking Highstakes, just your Average/Above Average MTT Grinder? What Strengths, does one need, and What Weaknesses must one Work on, in-Order to Become an Average/Above Average MTT Grinder?
Thx all for reading it:)

I have never seen this done but would be interested in the results. Most of the charts for
odds are examples for 8 or maybe 10 players at a table. I would like to see a chart of all 1326 possible starting hands and the number of times they would have won against all 1326 other hands combined. They would all play each other with 5 common cards (all the way through the river) like the flop was 5 cards. The 5 cards would be every combination that 5 cards would make from the 52 cards which is over 2 million combinations 2,118,760. I would like to see which hands win most of the time against all other hands with all possible combinations. Of course there would be some hands depending on the 5 common cards that would need to be discarded because they would not be possible like if the 5 common cards were A A A A K, any hand with an A in it would not be possible but if the 5 cards were A A A K K, any single A hand would be possible and they would all play. Any 5 common cards like the first example could not be beaten so that is a mute hand but the second example any A hand would win or tie another A hand so that would be a win. The result would be a list of all 1326 hands and the number of times each hand was a winner.

So they have a poker league that goes around and plays every night of the week. I been wanting to go play, but hadn't built up the guts I guess. It's bar poker. I am gonna go tonight, after talking with a friend I hadn't talked to in a while who also say's he goes to play there.
He says they have 2 tournaments, 1 right after the other. So you get to play twice if you so choose, and they have side games(I assume for fun also) in between for the players who go busto and are waiting for the next tourney.
My buddy told me 10k starting stack, blinds start at 100/200 and go up every 15 minutes, he said from 100/200 to 200/400, 3/6, 4/8, etc...
It's all free, but u can win a 25$ Walmart card... And it's run by a league that plays every night of the week somewhere, looking at their website they actually have games running at 2 diff bars at the same time tonight.
So I am gonna go check it out for fun, I have never played live except with family or friends at a home game....and that experience is very limited.
Wish me luck! and hopefully skill... I hope I don't look like a donk, but from the sounds of it most people are there to have fun, so I will do the same.

Not sure if this is the best forum for this so if there is a better sub group to move this to please do.
I am wondering how do I re-size the HUD stats to match the size of it when I add more tables. A lot of times I am playing two tables and the size of the HUD is not an issue but once I get to four tables the HUD is overlapping other things like players cards and chip bets.
Ultimately I would like to have the stats sit right under the player perfectly sized. Is this possible? Is this something easy that I have over looked. I checked Configure HUD options but did not see it there.
Thanks in advance for the help on this.

Just a quick question.
How do I get it so that when I join a new table I start off with 0 stats? I like keeping track of my table image, but at some tables I start off and already have a few hundred hands on myself.

I know I'm not a poker folk hero like leatherass, but I am currently on Day 3 of my own epic 28 day grind. So I thought I would tell you guys a little bit about it, and answer any questions, whether they're about the grind, LHE strategy, the Mayfair Club of old, vegan baking recipes, martial arts, or whatever else anyone wants to know.
Grindathon cliff notes: I'm quarantining myself in my apartment complex for 28 days to grind poker and raise money for charities. I won't be collecting the money myself. People make pledges, then donate the money themselves once the grind is done. I will also donate a portion of my winnings once the whole thing's done. I'll post the whole press release below in a response.

Going to try and keep it short as I could go on and on...
I have been playing poker for around a year and a half now. I consider myself
to be a pretty decent poker player and I am not exactly gods gift to poker but
I am a + money player. Anyways this year in Feb I finally had my breakout tourney and placed first in a 2.20 2k and got myself a few dollars short of 1000$. I then went to 4 cash tables with 100 $ on each and doubled on 3 of em and busted on one.. the next day I played the sunday 1/4 mil and went deep and got another 200 $.. in 2 days I went from like 130 fpps to over 7900 and got myself a goldstar.. at this point I was on top of the world.. invincible, bulletproof.. you know the drill. Guess what happened next? yep the inevitable downslide... I cashed out most of my winnings and left 400 $ on and that was gone in a week.. and have deposited nearly another 300 $ on top of that in frustration trying to get back on track.. but nothing is working. I really don't want to go into the whole "rigged debate" as i think it leads nowhere but everyone spamming each other in the end... but since March has started I have seen the sickest things ever. I will go an entire day without winning a race and having every high pp cracked or trips runnered etc.. it's just getting to the point where I AM going to either have an aneurysm or heart attack, and
pokerstars will be getting a funeral bill. I know stars is setup to induce as much action as possible every hand, and I have just been the recipient of some really bad luck.. but here's just a few examples of some of the beautys that i've seen in just the last 2 hours..
I'm holding kk in 2 diff tables. They both get broken. k7 makes 777 and k10 makes 10 10 10.
I'm holding 10 10 flop comes 10 10 2. Idiot holding AK reraises me all in and turn comes 2 and river comes 2 and AK wins...
Thnx for letting me vent.. hopefully I can come out of this with my wits still about me.

What does everyone think of the idea of limiting how much you are going to earn in a day? Do you see it as too constricting or a way of preventing yourself from becoming too tired or losing focus?

As some of you may be aware, there is currently a scandal brewing about the owner of Stoxpoker. He goes by the name of Stoxtrader online and on another well known forum.
I can supply the cliff notes and if any members would like to go into more detail please feel free to do so.
- A few days ago, a high stakes player posted accusations about certain members of Stoxpoker - including but not limited to: short stacking, multi accounting, rat holing and collusion.
- The thread was then quickly moved but eventually re-opened again after more evidence was brought forth.
- Stoxtrader came out and posted his winning histories - CONFIRMING he is a short stacker and eventually ADMITTED to having multiple accounts.
- New evidence emerged showing possible collusion between his multiple accounts and other accounts.
- Stoxtrader has since denied ever being involved in any collusion.
- New evidence is being brought forth of possible collusion/cheating and more and more people that know or have evidence are coming forth as well.
- High profile players such as Tom "durrrr" Dwan (WHO IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY WAY) have even commented on the scandal.
Figured this is a pretty news worthy story and something that members here should know about - especially if they are also members of Stoxpoker or were considering getting a membership there.
Thoughts?

A lot of folxs seem to say that one should raise in position with good starting hands to weed out the players. In low limit games it seems that limping as often as possible is better as so many will call anything with any two cards. To see as many flops as possible and then pushing hard when your hands hit. It seems that in low limit games you just cannot run many folxs off their hands and they will see a flop no matter what the raise..Im wondering if you kind folxs here agree or think that one should raise pre-flop with good hands,,big pairs,,,A/K and so on???

Hey guys. I have recently started a home game(we've had 2 nights of it so far). We're planning on meeting every other Saturday night with buy-in being pretty small $5 the first one and $10 with $10 rebuys the second one. I was wondering where I could find some ideas about structure for my games. Actually any advice or places to find info etc. would be appreciated. Thanks so much. :)

This was just a thought I had while in Vegas, what if there was a casino network in which you could purchase online $$ while you're in their casino, then you can play from home; would/could this be a way of allowing legal online gambling? I thought about this while I was @ the Nugget in Vegas. I thought it would be nice if I could "deposit" $xxx with them and then be able to use it on their web site. Then, if multiple casinos were to get together as a joint site, there could end up being quiet a few players. This could be done similar to how they offer gift cards right now, or it could be placed on the players cards most casinos use right now. As it is now, if you make a bet while @ the casino, they can mail you your winnings (correct me if I'm wrong), so I would imagine they could do the same with this. Or they could require withdraws in person, however, they probably wouldn't get as many players.
I titled this with poker, but it could be used on a site similar to
Bodog with the capability of sports bets, poker and casino.

I couldn't find any information on this, I'm just interested in knowing (if possible) if there is any kind of "average" amount of money someone makes per hour if they are a winning player for each stake.
I would think somewhere there is some kind of statistics on this.. A few players I randomly searched for $1/$2 had an average of 3BB/100, so that being said, that is around $3-$5 per hour, per table in profit?
Maybe I'm missing something.. because I also read a post a month back saying you can't make a living off $1/$2 NL, but if you were four tabling, thats $20/hour..

Just wondering if there was someone who could guide me in calculating or where to find the actual numbers to a probability of possible hands given an opponent's range question.
For example:
What the percentage of the time will villian have AA/KK if he is opening 7% vs 14% vs 3% etc from EP?
Given X combinations of AA/KK possible and X cards in his range that comes out with AA/KK a calculated X% of the time?
Thanks much.

Hey guys I'm thinking to open a Moneybookers account to fund my online

I'm registered for the Foxwoods Classic $200 NLH tournament. It starts tomorrow at 11am ET. I've played live tourneys before but they've all been charity or cheapo Vegas events with horrible structures. This will be my first live tourny that isn't a total crap shoot.
The blinds start out at 75/150 and double for the first 3 rounds which sounds terrible if it weren't for the 40 minute levels and 5000 starting chips. This actually rates pretty well with some WSOP events and is better than most on-line events at Full Tilt or Stars. The blind out time is 3 hours and for anyone familiar with Arnold Schneiders rating system it has a patience factor of 9 and a skill rating of 5 out of 6.
Due to the low buy-in I doubt they'll be any big names but I expect the final table to be full of reasonably skilled players and of course a luck-box or two who somehow manage to filter through the 1000 player mine field.
I expect the prize pool to be around 160k and the winner to take home about 30-40k.
The tournament itself is a 2 day affair with day one playing down to a final table which will continue at 12pm on Thursday. Day one could go as long as 15 hours so I'm a little concerned with how I'll hold up if I manage to go deep. Any advice on how to stay sharp will be appreciated.
I'll try to keep you all up to date via Twitter and this thread. BTW, the ME is a televised WPT event. If I do well I may just treat myself. Wish me luck.:)

a very big bluff by durr. durr vesus ivey.
durr started off with his betting at 25k. everyone folded but ivey who had A6d, durrr had 89spades.
the flop came 10d, Qc, and Kd, nice hand for phil not so for durr.
prior to dwan getting into the pot the others around the table were making fun and joking about dwan's unpredictability and his "ways" haha, which i think edged him on.
after the flop durr makes a CC bet of 45.8k  then ivey makes the mistake of just calling, he's giving dwan too much credit.
the turn card is the 3 spades no help to noone.
durr bets 123.2k, ivey calls again. remember dwan has nine high  phil could beat him right now with A high. and the pot is 408.7k.
then the river - 6 clubs, ivey makes a pair of 6's. durr has gotz.
durr bets out again 268.2k. i think at this point phil's too embarressed to call, with just a pair of 6's (poor phil.)
the pot is now 676.9k. phil's thinking and thinking, he makes the comment to the table about how sick it is that it's taking him sooooooooooo long with what he's got. but he don't know he has the hand. :(
dwan sits there with his moronic stare, his eyes are tearing up and very red and it looks like he's going to "cry" if he doesn't succeed.
the only thing i could figure is maybe phil felt sorry for him or phil's losing his nerve, because he folds.
wait till phil sees the tape. he's either going to have a huge laugh over it or next time "watch out durr"
phil was durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrred. :(
i'm not much into dwanistics. i prefer philistics. god i wish phil would've called that would of made my day.
:vroam:

What bank roll do you need for .50/1, when do you move up. how many big blinds do you need to have for each level.
In no limit when choosing a game you look for 30 plus pre flop. Is this the same for Limit

Does anyone use these? If so, what do you do with them. I was thinking of assigning player styles to each colour, was curious if others already do this

Hey guys over at a site I write for, they are featuring an interview I did with Randy Lew, otherwise known in the online poker world as "nanonoko". If you are curious how a young kid became a millionaire and what steps he takes to get the job done, give it a read.
I don't want to promote other sites or do anything weird against cc ... but if you go to Poker Software dot com you'll see it front and center.

-
If you're like me, you'll take poker however you can get it. However, if you had 3 games to choose from at the same time, which would you pick? Cash game, tourney with no rebuys or a tourney with rebuys?
-
Weather it's for a tourney or a cash game, how much will you spend on a game and still consider it to be a "fun" game? I know we're all pros and we never lose

, so it really doesn't mater the buy in, but for the purpose of this poll let's suppose you're going to lose your buy in. What would you lose and still consider it a fun and friendly game?

As of today, I am officially receiving coaching from team Moshman. If you havent heard of Collin Moshman, well I dont know why youre the member of a
poker forum. ;)
I contacted the management team via their website
[collinmoshman.com] and applied for a coaching deal. Within 24 hours I was contacted and an offer put on the table. The original deal was that I play 400 $5 double or nothing tournaments per week and pay 50% of net profits for a period of 6 months.
Without much time I quickly asked to re-negotiate these terms as 6 months of half my profits is far too long for me. So I suggested Ill play 6,000 games which I aim to have finished n 2 months and still pay 50% of my net profits. Without hesitation they accepted this and I signed the contract last night.
As I am writing this I have played just over 1,300 games this year for a net result of 6.8% ROI which is .5% under EV. I strongly feel that 6.8% ROI is quite bad for the $5 level. Clearly I must expect to have a slightly lower than average ROI as I 16table these games in sets of 50 at a time. Im sure if I was 4tabling them Id have a higher result due to being able to concentrate more and make perhaps better decisions as opposed to just going through the motions. But, on a personal note, I only have one objective at the moment and that is to rebuild my bankroll as fast as humanly possible.
Im sincerely hoping after some coaching and critiquing of my game I can be at 10%+ ROI playing in exactly the same manner. From there start to move back up the levels.
What I found most attractive was their policy of No win, No Fee. I have had a coaching session before at the rates of $65/hr from a private coach and whilst it was good there is only so much one can learn from a one hour session. I need something on-going. Im hoping this will be easy for the team to help me develop as I can at least say I am a marginal winning player.
In this thread I will share what I am learning and post my results of the 6,000 games I play for the duration of the agreement. If all goes well, I look forward to hopefully becoming an integral part of their team.
Collin Moshmans reputation is self explanatory and in my eyes, legendary. So its very safe for me to assume that anyone within that circle can achieve successful results.
Feel free to ask questions and I hope you enjoy as much as I will the journey that is about to start.

For the British Masters poker events, each of the events says:
"Alternates accepted for the first 2 levels"
What does this mean - can't find any mention of any "alternates" anywhere else.
Thanks!

Reason I ask is I don't play stars much and would like to just get it into my FT account. So if someone wants stars money for trade of Full Tilt money let me know. And, I'm not interested in Sklansky dollars at the moment. PM me if you're willing! :-)

Hello, my name is Ryan and I have been taking poker for 3 years but really started playing seriously for about 3 months now. I understand thats not a long time but bare with me. I have been playing about 5-6 hours a day at 25NL. So far I have lost about $500, but I know my game is improving and im getting better. My next step is to purchase poker tracker 3. Anyway, my question is how long did it take to become consistently profitable? Im not talking six figures just $20-$50 per day. Sometimes I make $100 a day but find myself not knowing when to call it a day. My job allows me to play pretty much all day so I plan to make this my part-time business. I feel like I'm right at the edge of profitablity but cant quite make it. Any helpful tips would be greatly valued. Thanks

Can anybody tell me what the
odds of catching quads on the flop is? Not with 3 of the same card coming out, but with a pocket pair and then the other two coming out? Thank you. Just curious.

I'm playing on DoylesRoom (CAKE network). Everytime I play a tournament, PT3 records it, but if I win, it does not come up. I have to go in and manually put in what I won for that tournament. (changing $0 to whatever I won)
Anyone have any ideas as how to fix this?
Thanks. :)

lol @ 1c/2c nlhe heads up
trying it out
my opponent and I both sat with 80c and I could see our money disappearing to rake, after a few hands we were down to 1.50 on the table
i eventually busted him and sit with 1.27 of the 1.60 = alot of rake
-
If you HAD to pick one way to lose a hand in which you went into the flop way ahead, would you rather lose:
Something like AA vs. QQ, and the other person hits a 2 outter.
or
Something like AK vs. A7 and the person hits two pairs?
I lost AK/AQ vs. A9/A7 twice tonight and AK vs. QQ last night (I hit the A on the flop and the other person called me all in but hit a 2 outter on the turn)
I must say I rather lose the second way because at least the other person had a legit hand.
Both of the other hands I mentioned the other guy called a big raise out of position and somehow nails the person cards.

Now I don't know the exact odds for both of these situations (as far as how often they happen) but I know what my experiences have shown me, at least up until this past month anyway.
I don't know whether AA vs KK (or a similar situation) or AA vs AK. I know up until this past month (which I seem to be on the wrong end of a lot of AA vs AK's) I have seen a lot more AA vs KK deals than I have AA vs AK. What are your observations on this?

1. On a standard ring game, how is the rake for rakeback calculated?
...Is the 27% rakeback given out of the total rake at a given table? (So, I should make more rake if I sit at a table for 4 hours than if I only sat for an hour, right?).
Or is it 27% out of the of the total rake from the hands that I play only? (So, if I fold preflop I wont be eligible for that rake.)
2. How is rakeback calculated on rush poker? Assuming the 27% of the rakeback is calculated out of the total rake taken from a given table, then it would be possible to make more from RB since rush poker plays so many different tables...right? Also, does the quick fold option affect anything? I know when you fold you move to another table, so do you still qualify for RB from total rake calculated from that table after you've moved?
...Sorry if this is confusing.

Here's something, and I find it happens to me not often but when it does it's a bitch I swear, anyways, lets just say you bought into any tourney, and as the blinds are going up, you just keep folding and folding and folding, because A)The table Aggressive B)No cards what so ever, so what exactly do you do in these circumstances?
This is usually the part in the game I just get bored/fed/and just decide to just luck box it, because I can't fathom going in to the first break as the lowest in the tourney cuz of my tight ways...Correct? So what should I do to not let this happen to me? Or is there nothing I can do when up against players like this?
-
Poker stars has a daily free roll called the daily eighty grand, only 7 people advance, when it first started there were 10,000 players, then its went to 20,000 players, and now its at a whopping 40,000 players, with only 7 people making it. I figure the least they could do is up the amount of people that qualify, hell while they are at they just should make it unlimited.

Yo!
I find the more ambiguous the title the more readers hence responses one tends to get. :)
Ok so before I attempt to decipher the most encrypted piece of gobbledegook Ive ever read Im going to ask CC for help.
I posted something in Holdem Manager and got some pretty hardcore response that a person with limited expertise in IT simply cant understand.
Im hoping to get a nice easy to follow answer here so if you can help I will be eternally grateful.
In data view I have around 1000 games played filtered by a specific buy in amount.
What I want to find out is results by start time. When I click on start time it is putting them in order of days not time.
Is there any way I can filter through the games to see how many Ive played starting at times
1pm, 2pm, 3pm etc
And see stats games:
Total games played
ROI
ITM etc
All Im basically trying to establish is what times of days I run good at and what times of day I run badly at.
The Holdem manager is talking about writing all this code that is pretty much to over-whelming for me to even attempt.
Please please please help if you can
Cheers

i learned a valuable lesson today just thought i would share it with the beginners i know the more exerienced players know this already.
NEVER limp in if you have a great preflop hand.
i had AK suited and limped in and the whole table limped in not one person folded
Flop comes out 2 4 A.
I knew i was beat by the worst hand that would have folded if i had bet instead.
But i take the chance and push with my top pair.
The only person to call my all in has 2 4 and that was the end of my game.
As soon as i had limped in and seen all the limpers i just knew it and its my own fault and to make it worst ii knew i was beat but i still went for it.
2 good lessons for a cheap price

I was listening to the ESPN's poker podcast The Poker Edge with Phil Gordon yesterday and the subject of his old show Celebrity Poker Showdown came up. Now, for those of you new to the game, CPS pitted celebrities, Atheletes, TV and movie personalities mostly, against eachother in a single table Sit and Go with proceeds going to the charity of the winning celebities choice. Although I didn't know it at the time, the poker in this show was atrocious but god help me, I loved it. I actually credit this show for getting me into poker. Never missed an episode.
Anyway, in the podcast Phil Gordons cohost Andrew Feldman made a reference to Dennis Rodman as an example of an athlete who had taken up poker. Phil scoffed a bit and then went into a story about a hand played between Dennis Rodman and actress Cheryl Hines which had me literally L'ingOL.
Now because many of these celebrities were new to poker Phil Gordon would often sit down with anyone interested (mostly the ladies it seemed) and give them a crash course in Texas Hold 'em. The instructions he gave to Cheryl Hines were that if anyone checked a paired flop to you, JUST BET and 90% of the time they will fold.
In the hand in question, Dennis Rodman min raised UTG with Q5o, which should give you some idea of his skill level. Cheryl Hines tanked a bit but finally called with KTs, the rest of the table folded. The flop came down QQK giving DR a flopped set and CH top pair. DR, apparently slow playing, checked and Phil Gordon, remembering his tip to Cheryl Hines, commented on how much trouble she might be in, and like the good pupil she was she bet, just as instructed. And just as Phil said would happen, Rodman FOLDED! WTF?
Several months later Phil ran into Rodman and had a chance to ask him what it was he thought Cheryl had that would make him fold set. Rodmans answer? He was afraid she had TWO PAIR! lol
Here's the Video. The hand is 3:52 into the clip.

So I am playing heads up limit holdem and this is the first time I had the betting capped on every single street.
Heres what happened my opponent was very aggressive often re raising me and capping with any pair any draw and any card pre flop above 10, even with j4.
I was picking my spots carefully but fighting back heavy with all reasonable holdings. this was a very aggressive battle with a lot of swings and then i took the edge and finally busted him on the last hand with capping pre flop and on every street.
he raised on the button and I am looking down at k9 suited I re raise as I am going to go to the river with K high am likely to be ahead and if he is going to out flop me I want himt o pay to draw. he caps. flop comes Ah kc 4h I have second pair and the nut flush draw. generally speaking this is the hand you see people getting all in with. I am not going to slow play it and give anything away this is war and I will come out swinging I bet out instant re raise I re raise he caps. Now i am putting him on the ace but with 14 cards to draw to twice i am certainly going no where so i call is the cap obviously.
turn is 9c Right now I have two pair and nut flush draw I think i am ahead but cant be sure but i have to assume i am and go for it because of all previous action and I bet out instant re raise I re raise he caps. turn is the 3h
I hit the nut flush draw I was thinking i might have sucked out on the guy maybe this time he had AA for a set or higher two pair etc, ut he was playing so reckless this wasnt inconceivable for him to do with 92 or j10 so i stand by my play on every street the river got capped again.
this is the first time ever I have had every single street capped in a heads up fixed limit game.
An interesting hand Don't know what you guys think, by the way he had 83 off suit, he had done a few bluffs but surely you have to know you can't just buy any pots you want and since when he had done this previously i had slowed down and flat called him to the river and exposed his bluffs surely he had to know yes he had pushed me off a few hands but based on the action did it look like i was going anywhere.
if the turn hadnt paired and my hand had failed to improve after the flop i would have flat called him on the turn and river anyway.
any thoughts comments?

Hey Everyone,
Just like a warrior gearing up for battle... Online Poker Players do the same thing...
SELECTING THE RIGHT TABLE:
Finding the right table to sit down in, can make you or break you.
There are plenty of good places to help you find a good table, one of them is http://www.pokertableratings.com if you click on TOOLS, you will see TABLE FINDER.
There are software programs that also help you find good tables, such as Hold'em Manager, Poker Tracker, etc.
KEEPING PLAYER NOTES:
Besides just sitting at the table, it's good to know your opponents so you have an idea of how they might play.
If you go to:
http://www.pokercrusher.com/poker-player-search.html
You can type in a players ID, and it will tell you what type of player he is, wether he is a FISH or BOMB.
Then you can tag him at the tables, using colors for the type of player he is.
GREEN = MOUSE, GREEN FISH, RED FISH
AQUA BLUE = CALLING STATION
YELLOW = WARNING
RED = BOMB
ORANGE = MANIAC
PURPLE = ROCK
USING A POKER TRACKER:
There are a lot of good tracking software out there, and they are very good tools to have, because they gather a lot of information about the players at the table.
How often they fold to a 3 bet, do they steal the blinds, do they like to check raise... all kinds of important info, that you can use to play better against them.
Poker Tracker 3, is a program I use and it works well with both Macs and PCs...
Hope this tips help you guys out...
Best of Luck at the Tables

This is a AP article making the rounds today on the net and in newspapers across the US.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100311/..._gambling_poll
I think its funny as most people said they gambled and still oppose it.
Still the questions asked did not ask about internet poker. I don't see how they could not include poker.
They asked alot about sports betting.
Here's a link to the questions.

Hi everyone
this is my first ever post, and look forward to some good discussions with you all, however at the minute i have a question to ask just been speaking to a guy i play poker with down here in yarmouth UK, he said he was watching some poker tournament and in it 1 player told another player that he wanted him to call and revealed that he had Ace King, anyway the tournament director went over to him and said that he lost the hand as he revealed what cards he had. anyway i have scoured the internet to find this rule and i cannat find it anywhere, can anyone confirm that this is a rule and if so do you have anything that i can print off to show the guy who runs the poker tournaments down here. Cheers

In case anyone is interested, they're holding a charity tournament on Full Tilt on April 4. Buyin is $5 + $5, double stack, no rebuys. There will be pros playing and bounty prizes for knocking them out. I'll be there -- hope some of you guys can join as well!

I have encountered this a number of times. I guess it is just a sign of the FISH, but wtf? A number of times, players either on the BB or anywhere post flop and being checked to, as last player sometimes too, I have seen players folding when they could have seen another card. It is a concept I dont understand. I have occasionaly hit the fold button on mistake, but there is always a warning system asking if I am sure I want to fold and not check. Even if I know I am beat 100% I dont fold if I dont have to, so can anyone explain what this means (other than complete idiocy)?

So.. Ive been playing online for a while now and have more than quadrupled my initial deposit. It has taken a little while as I am attempting to use proper BRM and am playing to earn money and not 'gambling' (meaning I don't play without a big hand, never chase on big raises, and play very tight and smart). Things were going well with small ups and downs, but mostly ups. Sometimes I wouldn't win much, but I would normally increase my BR by at least a few cents (playing at least 100 hands a day).
However, the past 3 weeks I have done nothing but lose, lose, lose. I'm not playing any more loose than I was and I'm not making bad calls... i'm just getting beat over and over by fluke hands. I'm talking flopping a full house, push all in, get called and the DB with pocket 3's hits 2 more 3s for 4 of a kind. If I flop trips, there is ALWAYS 3 suited cards on the flop (none of which I hold) or a 4th comes down on the river making me lose a lot... just bad beats.
My question is: what's the best thing to do to ride this shitty storm out? Should I just keep playing and hope for the best or take a long break and hope things are better when I return.
I love poker and understand the ups and downs, but have never experienced it this bad. I know it can last a lot longer, but my BR has literally not increased one time in a month.
Just gets to you after a while when you get owned every day. Any advice?

I have had a suggestion to download Ryan Fees 6 max ebook. I have done that and can recommend it. I have an ever growing library of real book, and am trying to increase my library of ebooks. I dont really want to buy them, cause if I buy a book, I want to take it with me if I travel, or read in bed, couch etc. (Unless its a must read and only available as ebook) But Ryan Fees was free, and good. Does anyone have other good suggestions for LEGITIMATE free ebooks? I capitalize, cause I put ebooks in google and get a lot of what looks to me like suspicious crap, typical "earn over 5oo$ a day just by reading this book" stuff, with a long page of testimonials and they want your email - no problem, I have a free acct. for this stuff - but most of these books are a waste of time, just email phishing. I dont need free books, I am happy to buy them, but just wondering if there is any free stuff - like Fees book - that is recommended, cause, hey if its free anyway, I am happy with that too.
-
Just wondering what level of sit n go's I should be playing and how many buy ins I should have in my BR.

I've been thinking that I raise by too small amounts. I'm considering to make a rule when I raise:
Raise 3 big blinds plus 1 blind for every limper. This could also be applied to reraising I suppose. If the raise/reraise is more than 50% of my pot, push all in.
What do you guys think? it is going to create much bigger pots, and help my tight aggressive style. I find that I'm not making enough chips fast enough so this may help. There is a catch to it though, when I try to do continuation bets I have to put a lot more money into the pot, it is a risky style.
-
How do I start a track so I can remember and show how I'm doing in the tournaments I play in?:icon_scra :icon_scra :icon_scra My FR ..IN-THE-MONEY places are starting to add up...but I do not know how to add it to my signature like everybody elses!

Now i know there is different strategy in rebuys and when someone gos all in on a draw they can rebuy if they miss. I just find it interesting when people will constantly rebuy and in a sense need to final table to make money.
Where as freerolls there is no money put up so there isn't any to be loss. However once you are out you are out. Also many people on a gamble just trying to build a BR.
I see the rebuys as a bigger donk fest. Course as stated above when money is lost the bad beats suck that much more.
(Side note had two bad beats in two recent rebuys couldn't handle doing a rebuy due to becoming too tilted)
-
I have been in a couple of situations lately, and was wondering what some of you think. It is always after I have been semi-bluffing/stealing blinds. Usually in late stage MTT or SnG. I had a couple of hands where everyone was checking or min-betting to me so I 4-5 BB bet/raise barreled into em and folded the table. The situation I mean is when I do this at least twice in a short period then get a real nutz hand, so I barrel into em again regardless of position, like AKh was one, KK was another. So I am thinking the table is fed up with me and my stealing days are over so I show the nutz, as if to say "hehe, I realy do have it" This is always after 2-3 times sucsessful stealing/semi bluffing. Good idea? Bad idea?
-
ive been tryin to put money in fulltilt but its sayin that i cant right now its been sayin that for 3 days now has anyone else had this prob:viking:
-
I am just starting a 900+ MT at PKR. Some people have large stacks of smaller denomination chips, and some have small stacks of large denomination chips. Is it this way anywhere else, and any idea why?
-
It;s has been a very long time for me since i have played in any of there freeroll since they added more player to them. so yesterday i gave it a try i was playing in the 9,40 am freeroll and after sitting for over 5 1/2 hours only to be knockout in 49th place, talk about alot of play and nothing to show for it, it would be nice if they would cut the betting time to 10 seconds and make it a super turbo with that many player in them , it like they would have you put money into you account then to play the freerolls. anyone else feel the same way as i do?
-
At the moment, I belong to 4
poker sites. I will slowly be expanding. I always use the same SN. I notice some players do this too, and some have different names on different sites. Is there any reason to use a different SN? I cant off the bat see any advantage - except for players who dominate me one one site being able to get me in the first few games on another and vice versa, but dont really see this as any lasting thing.
Thoughts?

Ok so I made a short little quiz on some situations that can/have occured at the poker table, this is more for the live players not online. Now don't cheat and don't go into reasoning so others are not persuaded toward your answers. Just put the number of the question and what letter you think is right.
***OZ you can take this quiz but not post your answers as others will then know the correct answers :-)***
All these situations are for either tournament or cash game unless otherwise noted.
1.) Btn is seat 2. action goes seat 4 folds, seat 5 calls, seat 6 raises,
seat 7 says "I only have 1 card". Dealer should?
a. Call a misdeal
b. Give the player top card
c. Tell player hand is dead
d. Tell player hand is dead unless they want to play with 1 card
2.) Btn is seat 10. Seat 3 calls and says "I will call any raise!!", seat
4 folds, seat 5 calls, seat 6 goes all in, it folds around to seat 3
and he folds. Dealer should?
a. Allow seat 3 to fold
b. Tell seat 3 they must call as verbal is binding and play it out
c. seat 3 should have to call the raise and his cards are mucked
3.) Btn is seat 4. Seat 7 raises, seat 8 calls, all others fold. Flop
comes out, seat 7 bets, seat 8 then says "wait button is in wrong
seat, it should be in seat 3" all other players agree its in the
wrong seat. Dealer should?
a. Stop play give chips back to players and redeal with button is correct
spot.
b. Continue the hand and button goes to seat 5 next hand
c. Continue hand then put button in seat 3 next hand then seat 5 the
hand after that.
4.) Btn is seat 8. Seat 1 folds seat 2 calls folds around to btn who
calls, SB calls, BB checks. Flop comes out SB checks, BB checks,
seat 2 checks and dealer flips over turn. Btn says "I didn't check
but was going to so go ahead. Dealer should?
a. Leave the card since btn checked
b. Reshuffle only the turn card back in the deck then deal a new turn
c. Reshuffle the burn and turn back in the deck and redeal a new burn
and turn.
5.) Btn is seat 3. Seat 6 folds, seat 7 folds, seat 8 is thinking and
seat 9 says "raise" dealer says"its not on you" and seat 8 raises.
seat 9?
a. Must raise as verbal declaration is binding
b. Can raise,fold,or call
c. Can only call or fold for acting out of turn
6.) Btn is seat 5. Dealer is dealing and the second card to SB is
exposed due to dealer error and is the Ace of diamonds.
Dealer should?
a. Allow player to keep it if they want
b. Replace with the next card
c. Continue dealing and replace the card with what would be the burn
card and the Ace becomes the burn card
d. Redeal because the exposed card was dealt to the SB
7.) Btn is seat 2. action folds around to seat 8 who raises, folds to
Btn who calls and BB calls. Flop is out BB checks, seat 8 bets
all in. Seat 1 finds a card from the deck on the floor.
Dealer should?
a. Call the hand void and return the chips
b. Reshuffle the card back in the deck and continue play
c. Continue the hand and treat the card as a dead card
8.) Btn is seat 5. Seat 8 raises to $10 (in a cash game) or riases to
$200 (in tournament). Seat 9 throws out a $25 chip (in cash gm)
$1000 chip (in tournament). Dealer should?
a. Announce "Raise" from seat 9
b. Announce "call" from seat 9
c. Ask seat 9 if they are raising

I was kind of shocked to read that Annie Duke bested the field to win the 2010 National Heads Up Championship. I think the field was a little bit weaker than it could have been, but it's an impressive win nonetheless.

For those who don't know what this is , a brief explanation.
A post oak bluff is a small semi-bluff that is made to protect a good drawing hand. Let's say you have A-K suited in a pot raised by your opponent. The flop comes Q-J-6 and you now have a one way straight draw and a nut flush draw. Your opponent is a lag player and you are sure he will make a large continuation bet if you check to him.Instead of checking to him and being raised off of you draw you make a small quarter to half pot raise , hoping to convince him/her not to put in a raise that would be hard for you to call based on your stack size. If you make your opponent think twice here about hammering the pot , he/she might call you down instead. This way you get to see the next street at an acceptable price.
Now I know most experts will advise you never to use this play but for me it works quite well at micro limits. If you read super system , which is the only book i own or have read , Doyle Brunson will tell you never to use it. I do not necessarily disagree with Doyle on this. At the stakes he is playing , players thinking at that level will recognize a bet which shows weakness and protect their hand anyway and you will either have to gamble or lose your post oak bet. However , at micro limits you can usually get the donkeys to change their minds and just call unless they have a monster.
Has anybody here ever used this play at higher end limits online and how has it worked out for you?
-
So I'm headed to Vegas later today. Any suggestions for good Hold 'em tourneys?
Or just wish me luck!
-
Playing a small buy-in freezeout tonight, Ive played there before, and the play equates to 10NL online.
I play a good game, but have forgotten most live reads, anybody know any obvious ones can they post them here, thanks!

Someone a few weeks back told FullTilt that I was multi-accounting on mine and my wife's account, and for that my wife's account was suspended whilst they investigated it. I told FT that I had played one sng under her name, whilst she was sat next to me, just to show her how I play, and they accepted that. They asked for ID for both of our accounts, which has only just been accepted:

I'm trying to figure out some of the mathematical sides of poker, and trying to develop some sort of systematical playing style. I know decent players will pick up on this, but I'm playing at micro stakes so I don't think this is an issue for the time being. Plus, when it becomes an issue, I can make little rules to confuse the hell out of players. I want to make some sort of system because this will help me make good plays when in difficult decisions, and let me learn from my mistakes.
Ok, here is the actual question. Trying to figure out how many chips I would have to make in order for playing suited connectors to be profitable. So, here's some lovely math ;)
The chance of a two pair is (6*5*44 * 3)/(50*49*48) = 0.03367346939
The chance for three of a kind: 6*5*4/50*49*48=1.020408163x10^-3
The chance for a flush: 11x10x9/50x49x48=8.418367347x10-3
The chance for a straight:4x4x4/50x49x48=5.442176871x10^-4
All of these added up are .04365646259
This means that you will make a decent hand 4% of the time. Therefore, you should only call with suited connectors if you believe that you will make 25 blinds when you hit your hand. Since this is fairly high, one should only call suited low suited connectors if people are deep stacked(the question is how deep stacked) and if the table is particualry loose.
Now, they're some things to consider:
1) what if someone raises?
2) what if someone makes an even better hand than the one i make(for example, i make two pair and someone else hits a better two pair)
3) what is i made a mistake in my calculation?
So, am wondering if you guys could tell me what you guys think of this. I'm going to try to figure out other rules aswell; I'm still not sure what hands I should play, the internet tells me to play too tight in my opinion(I play at loose turbo sit and gos/multi tables)

-
whenever i have a winning session im afraid that i was playing bad and getting lucky. its also the same when i have a losing session. i believe i am playing good and just not catching cards. i guess the only way to to tell that im actually playing good is to consistently have winning sessions.
-
In a live game, is it the responsibility of spectators or other players to let a person know that they have won the hand when they think they have lost, or declared they have lost (all hands in the pot are shown)?
Is there a defined rule on this? Is it just ettiquette, or actually illegal?
-
I've never been to impressed with ESPN's WSOP coverage. It's spotty and filmed more like a reality show than a sporting event. I guess I watch it more to keep up with who's who in poker than to actually learn anything. That said, it can be occasionally entertaining when something unusal happens. I was up late last night watching the WSOPE on ESPN2 and I caught a hand which I thought was very interesting.
This hand occurred between Daniel Negreanu and Shawn Deeb. The table folds around to Daniel holding 77 in the Small Blind. Shawn Deeb raises with K9o in the BB and speculates that Daniel will call as usual. Daniel in his usual a jovial spirit says something to the effect of. "Well, I'm going to
Pound you back", and then clearly puts his raise in in two seperate motions. Deeb immediately calls Daniel out as making a "string Bet" as he never used the word "RAISE" and did not put his chips in in one motion.
Of coure Daniel protests in his always friendly manner but Deeb insists on a ruling from the floor. Daniel argues that it was obvious that his intention was to raise but instead of using the words "Pound you
Back" he sneakily replaced it with "Pound you
UP" and explains that there are many different (more colorful?) ways of declaring a raise. All the time Deeb remains silent and excepts the floors ruling to "Let it stand" without argument and promptly folds his hand.
Ater the FM leaves the coversation continues with Deeb obviously frustrated by the ruling. It seems obvious to me that Daniels intent was to raise as that is exactly what I expected to see when he said "I'm going to pond you back" and there was no real delay between the two motions. Also, given Daniels character, I don't see him attempting any funny business, but who knows. He is facing a raise out of position with a vunerable hand which he'd prefer not to see a flop with.
IMO this was a poor ruling and have to wonder whether Daniel was cut some slack based on his star power. As Deeb later pointed out, this ruling makes it too easy for somone with less integity to shoot an angle by making some cute remark about "Ginning it up" or "Buttering it up" and then taking back the raise based on his opponents reaction arguing that he never actually used the word
RAISE and it would be hard for the floor to rule against him.
Watch the video and tell me what you think. The hand in question occurs about 4:15 into the clip.

I have seen a lot of posts about what stats to include in one's HUD but I need some help setting the ranges. I have found VPIP, PFR, and AF but that is all.
Can anyone help me with some value ranges (or direct me to a thread) to use for stats such as cbet, steal, donk bet, 3bet, fold to cbet etc...?
I realize there won't be a definitive answer but I have no idea what percentages would be normal so it is hard to determine what is high or low.
As always, thank you for your help
-
The default HUD set-up has the first item as Abb. Name. I understand that it means abbreviated name but it also has values (colors, etc..) that you can set in the players preferences section.
What do these values correlate to? I thought perhaps they meant nothing but I stuck in some random values and assigned different colors and the colors of the abb. names on my HUD changed....so I know it is associated with something.
Anyone know? Thanks.

This post might be something those of you non US players have more experience with and thoughts about.
Stars opened up Euro tables for testing recently. I thought it would be nice play in this currency as it offers other artificial blind levels. For example. The €10 tables are more like $13-16US over the last few months. This allows for finer gradations between levels. Also I noticed as I was playing, the general player base in these beta tables was VERY unpredictable. There seemed to be more bad players at least for a while, along with a greater appearance of SN and even SNE players at the tiny stakes I play. This made the games more interesting and sometimes profitable seemingly.
Then last week I decided to convert 90% of my EU account back to USD.
Now I understand Stars doesn't want to turn its players into currency traders, and I mean to honor them in that request. But they also cannot expect me to leave my money in a place I feel it may be temporarily vulnerable.
I am not so savvy about the Forex type stuff, but it seems to be the USD is headed up a little in world markets and the EU might be in a little trouble thanks to Greece etc. Add those two things together and I thought I might rather have my bankroll be in USD again. At least for now.
Obviously I can't tell the future, and the EU might continue to climb against the USD for a while.
But I was curious ... what others think about multi-currency accounts, and the implications and resulting strategies they might produce, both at the table, and even just in what currency to be playing in.
Does it matter to you?

this is the news link.

pretty shocking, such a major event getting robbed. im sure security for future events will be beefed up significantly.

I just had this idea, and i think it would be so awesome, if enough players would play.
How abbout, once a year, a Cardschat series of poker? Obviously, Buy In events, no freerolls, Buy ins ranging from $5-$22, added money would obviously be awesome, but not neccessary.
Does something like this exist already?
Anyway i think this would be absoltely awesome not only to bring players to CC, but for current players at CC who take poker seriously.
Any thoughts?

This article is not for the recreational player who is happy to lose their $50-$100 a month and reload. Or has fun trying to see how many times they can win with 7-2os.
This is for the player who knows they can play and wants to perfect what poker is all about, MAKING MONEY. There are the rare exceptions that can play all forms of poker well, Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud, Razz, Limit Hold'em, No Limit Hold'em, etc...
But even within NLH, there are cash games, Heads Up, SNGs. Multi-table SNGs, tournies. That's alot to choose from and try to be good at. My advice is to select the game that you are most profitable at and squeeze every dime you can out of it.
Look at your stats (if you don't keep track of your sessions / games and your ROI from them you need to start). If 9 tabling .25/.50 razz has you up over $500 in your last 5,000 hands, you'd better start playing 20,000 hands a month if you can. AND FORGET ABOUT EVERY OTHER GAME OUT THERE.
If your goal is to make money playing poker, find your game and play the crap out of it. Do not stray into PLO 'cause it looks like fun, don't waste 6 hours playing a MTT to make $1.50 when you could have crushed $10NL, playing two tables for 6 hours making 10 bb/100 hands. (and vice versa).
Another reason players don't make as much money as they could is by playing too many or too few tables at the same time. This will require tracking and experimentation but find the optimal number of tables you can play.
For example:
Your ROI at $22 SNGS is 30% when playing one table at a time. Play 100 games, on average, your profit will be $660 but will take 100 hours to play (1 hr per game).
Say your ROI drops to 20% when you add another table, but you can now play twice the amount of games in the same time period. 200 games in 100 hours at 20% ROI is a profit of $880 or 33% more than playing one table.
Find what you do well and do it more often. Sounds simple but so few do it. Challenge yourself to do this for one month and I guarantee it will be the most money you have ever made in one month playing poker.

Dear poker friends,
Im currently working on my thesis on online poker.
Id greatly appreciate it if you completed a short questionnaire to support my project.
It takes less than 10 minutes to answer the questionnaire.
[ww3.unipark.de]
Among all participants there will be a drawing of five 25-Dollar Amazon vouchers as an incentive for participation.
It goes without saying that the survey is anonymous.
The topic of the thesis is: Empirical market analysis of the online poker market.
I am writing it as a business administration student within the field of Marketing
at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne (Germany)
Thank you

I am working very intensively on my game. 30-40 hours a week min - which may not be possible for long, but I will spend as much time as I can - Reading LOTS of sources. My library of real books has gone from none to ATM 12. Ive read 4, am re-reading one again, and will be working through the rest as I can. I have a plan, set for about a 6-9 month time period, to improve my game where I read, re-read, analyze, play and so on. But playing takes money. Money IS an issue. I was a losing player, now I am a break even, slowly advancing player. My BR was 180, went down to 25, at the 25 point, I was already clued into the fact that I had no clue, started learning, making plans setting goals, now i am up to 70.
Graphically, my 180-25 was strait down, my 25-70 a staggered almost level but slightly upward moving line, I think u get the point. I am improving, but the progress is slow, to be expected I know, but I am solely playing with notes and observations. As money is an issue, and I need to prioritize, should I claw my way up slowly with my mediocre yet ever improving poker skill with out HUD aid, or will the improvement a HUD brings be enough justification to get one?
I of course have another problem and that is I use Windows 2000, and PT3 HEM dont support it. SO I need a new PC. I need the Win 2K, have programs that I cant afford to update, and from XP onward, it will cost$ to use the progams that I use now for free, and I cant not use them, work related stuff. So I need a new PC, b4 I can use HUD, unless anyone know as Win 2K solution. I do have a MAC but is the PC I use for Poker the least. But my main question: HUD for the advanced beginner?

...for opening my mouth. Earlier today I added to a beginner's thread to "not be results oriented. You can get it in good and still lose." Yeah, well guess what happened all night long? Aces cracked, straights lost to flushes, flushes busted by FH on the river, hell one time a guy beat my FH with quads. It was insane. Anyway, I'm taking a couple nights off to regroup, just wondering if anyone has a favorite book or post/thread they revisit to put them back in the game. Right now I'm off for a few cold ones and a good laugh at myself :D
edit: mods if I posted this in the wrong place, please re-direct and I apologize.

At a table early game - EVERYONE sittingf out - should i try to prolong it, or should I try to steal ASAP and move on to next table rich, but with possible serious competition? Decisions.

I play as many freerolls as I can enter into and I have only placed in one and that was a long time ago. 90% of the freerolls I play are no limit hold'em. For the first time last night I entered into a limit Razz freeroll with 7,500 people. The top 45 players place with the top prize being 18.00$. I finished 217th and didn't make the money. I was doing well in 6th place but once their was only 500 people left I went on a cold streak and wasn't getting dealt any good hands. In your opinion do you think that Razz is easier then hold'em and why?

I just upgraded to windows 7 and my ftp client is no longer working. uninstalled and re-dowloaded but was worried about losing my rakeback. Has anyone had these issues and if so what were your fixes?

I've been playing micro/low limit holdem with goals to move up to higher levels. However,it seems as if all the real action is on the NL side of the cash game. My plan was to use limit as a stepping stone for an eventual transition to NL, but it seems so much of the literature/discussions are related to NL (not to mention the milder swings NL has - or so I've read) that I'm wondring whether it's even worth spending my time with limit. Is NL generally more profitable? And speaking of profits, what are respectable win rates one should strive to achieve? I'm not a beginner, but I do have some flaws I've been working out and my original plan was to work on my fundamentals on limit and once I got comfortable, I would transition to NL. Just curious to hear others thoughts...

In the March Poker Pro Magazine there's an article titled "Risking It All: Becoming a Poker Pro is a Life Changing Decision". Author Daniel Johnson relates the stories of two 22 year old players who decided to go pro. One succeeds; the other doesn't. Then he outlines what it takes to not only survive, but thrive in this way of life.
In a section called "Think Before Going Pro", he quotes extensively from the Cardschat strategy article titled "10 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Going Pro." The focus is on one of our fave CC themes--record keeping and BRM.
In the next section, "Bankroll Blues", he details an interview he had with Dusty Schmidt about the subject, as well as other tips to succeed--all of which we CCers are familiar with because of his great thread here.
As if these connections to CC weren't enough, there's also an interview with Dusty's Poker Coach Jared Tendler that focuses primarily on how to handle tilt.
I thought it was a great issue. :icon_sunn

I am playing mainly MTTS and SnGs, but do like to dabble in cash games, and eventually want to improve my ring game. I have no HUD at the moment. I use MAC OSx as well as Windows 2K - no jibes about the 2K, ok? I know, but I have loads of stuff that I cant afford to update or even replace if I go XP upwards.... - I play on both OS about equally. Is anyone familiar right off the bat with one where I could purchase one license and use it on multiple computers? Is there an all-round software that works Sng, MTT as well as ring? Is there a need to have different programs for every game? How about MTT vs SnG? One program for both? And of course I would like to hear peoples pros and cans on the different programs.
Thanx
And any other programs not names in the Thread Title?

Why Can't I connect to
Pokerstars? I opened poker tracker and closed it and I can't log on pokerstars. I just downloaded pokerstars and yesterday it connected but sometimes it does/doesn't. Really skeptical on putting some of my FT bankroll on a client that doesn't even connect properly. It will connect some time and other times it will say connecting. I took down firewall is it my router?

People will tell ya that over time luck will even out and stuff, but in reality, variance can cause a huge imbalance on a certain side.
That said, has there been a suit that has been particularly lucky for you?
For me, I love clubs and diamonds and hate hearts and spades. Nothing rational about this, but it's just so happened that clubs and diamonds have been kind to me by chance while the opposite is true of the other two suits.
Looking at my hand history in fact, two of my biggest pots ever won were won with low suited club connectors. 45 and 67 of clubs. All of my other top pots were won with AA, KK, or pocket pairs that hit sets.
The first lucky hand I raised with 45 of clubs from the button (I hadn't seen a flop in a while so I thought the blinds would respect my raise) and got called by BB. Flop's 68J of clubs. Flopped a flush. I bet big since I was vulnerable to a hand with one higher club. He calls. 7d hits on the turn, and he leads out with a pot size bet. I shoved it. He calls and flips over 78 offsuit.
My biggest pot ever was won with 67 of clubs. I had it on BB, and would have folded preflop if there was a raise but all limpers. I flopped two pairs but little did I know UTG flopped a flush and BTN flopped a lower two pairs 64. UTG slowplayed his J high flush, only calling my raises, and I ended up hitting a 6 on the river and tripled up over the flush and the smaller FH.
Spades and hearts though have killed me far more than the other two suits in terms of flush draws hitting.
-
I'm playing a 2-7 triple draw tournament on
pokerstars right now and I am sort of frustrated because my 2345, 2346, 7432, etc. draws are all missing over and over. But I'm trying to stay cool.
And after all, it makes me think that bad luck might not even exist so I should suck it up.
If each hand is independent of another, the fact that a draw from a previous hand never got there, doesn't make the player "unlucky" because it happens over and over, they are just all independent events.
So is there such thing as bad luck? Maybe not.

Try this.....
Go at a limit holdem table 9 handed in .. FT no matter wich range... sit, start a new session ...
let the button pass you one time before to post any blind or wait for big blind..
switch off all your trackers there or any poker assistant program....
you will not need em... forget about your cards just fold....
wait till you are in position 6 ...where 0 is button 1 is SB position 2 is BB...
Wait till you are in position 6
(be carefull if there is someone in sit out betwen you and the button on your right this dont have to happen..)
..now forget about your cards... if the pot is not raised yet raise... if it raised from early position
keep reraising any even if you have 7 2..forget about the cards.... go in continuous bet after the flop
or if someone moves before you and bets raise him... dont be scared...
go till river.....
do the same now from position 3 and 1
give 60% to position 6 10 % to position 3 and 30% to position 1
means.. go play the hand like i said in position 6 be more careful when u are in position 3
and evaluate the hand when you are in position 1 but go to see the flop no matter which cards you have...
keep it doing for 4 button rings than leave the table
do it only ONE time...
than tell me..post here... if you went in plus or in minus......
aaah ... dont forget to fold ALL what you get meantime you are in other positions ..you must fold.... 4 button rings than leave..

Hey everybody,
I am a pretty successful internet marketer who has a passion for poker, I am currently looking to put together a new poker training site. I know there are a few descent training sites out there but the owners are horrible marketers and they are leaving alot of willing people out in the dark unable to join. I am looking for some people who are online poker players who would consider themselves a coach. I am looking for people to to make training videos for a new site that I guarantee will be number one on google and put the rest out of business. So if you consider yourself an online poker pro and would like to make extra money please email me at

I want to ask everyone , What no limit holdem game could someone play given the statement thats been made on a recent thread today that if your a good player you should win little at a time"..
What no limit holdem stakes could you play to make the same as a minimum wage full time job (UNITED STATES) with less amount of time? Meaning I want to play higher limits so i can quickly reach my goal and stop. When I reached MY VERY LOW GOAL OF SAY 60.00 TO 100.00 A DAY I can leave the table for the day.. So again witch is the lowest stakes game but high enough to reach 60.00 to a hundred dollars within 6 hours of play
Like in my local casino 1-2 table 60 dollar buy in max I can make like 100 and go home very easily. I know their is a difference in competition online vs live and i know the micro tables at 25c 50c the buy in is much higher than that live table at my casino at 1-2 max buy in of 60.00..
So for online what No limit holdem game can i play to equal that situation in my live game 1-2 60$ max buy in that I can easily play solid and make a few more dollars a day than minimum wage full time job ?

Hey there is a 40 point game going on right now, it pays 10 places and up 23 places depending on how many players join, its a great way to build up full tilt points. Thought I would give you all a heads up, cheers from madness.
-
I find that I run a lot better on Pstars than on FT. It's weird - I played on FT on a while and it always seems like I keep getting the most disgusting beats on that site whenever I'm in a big pot.
Anyhow, I just wanted to see if anyone else experiences the same thing or if it's all just variance/luck.
-
I was just curious on why it hurts you guys to lose in poker? Is it the money? Is it for pride? Maybe it's because you just hate to lose. Or maybe losing, even the smallest pot, kinda kills that dream of being a WSOP bracelet winner just a little bit everytime. For me it's purely competitive. I wanna prove I'm better than every single person not only across from me but on pretty much any website or casino I play at, and when I lose it's like saying there better than me. Money could matter less to me, I just wanna be the best. Just curious on why a lot of people on this site hate losing.

Ok, so im on 'pokertableratings.com' and im looking under the 'Hands' selection jus to see what my biggest winner has been and I notice that I lost $14.20 with AJo.
So I click on the link to watch how the hand replayed and it says my name 'ukaliks' playing 6-max $0.50/$1. I never play 6-max games and plus I cant play NL100 due to the fact im sticking to BRM. So WTF is going on?!?!
Here's the link: https://www.pokertableratings.com/re...hash=699384172
WTF?? Thats not me! They played that sh!t aswell lol. But i've sent a e-mail to pokerstars support and asked them what has happend and to see if they can help dig through some HH. I do think some donkey is playing with my money :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
This is spookin me out and im going to go change my password...

I've been a lurker on here for awhile and finally decided to register and get involved in the community here. I want to start by thanking Cardschat for turning me on to a book that has pretty much changed how I approach poker.
I've been grinding out 25nl for awhile and never really thought it was more than a little extra cash and a hobby but after reading Dusty's thread on here I decided to read his book. It's a total game changer in terms of how I see the game and approach it now. It was pretty cool to read a book that worked on making sure that I prepared myself to play my best game when I sat down.
I don't know what to compare this to in terms of a regular job. I guess this book is to poker what The Art of War or How to Win Friends and Influence People is to a sales or marketing person. Link if you want to check it out. https://www.dustyschmidt.net/order_d...ke-a-business/
I'd also like to hear from others on here as to what you do off the tables to prepare yourself for success etc. Anyone have some mental prep exercises they do before they sit down?
Thanks guys just had to share this cause I really liked it. Guess I'm like that guy who loved a movie and has to make all his friends watch it.

I googled and searched around, but I'm a little confused as to why some sites will pay up to $15 per mil, while others only offer $3 per mil. So if anyone has had any good experiences with some of these sites please let me know which ones. I've heard of some scamming, which leads me to believe the sites offering 3x more might be the ones doing so.
Thanks for the feedback!:lollypop:

After this week I plan on cashing out of
bodog and moving to one of the big sites with more traffic. I'm think UB, stars, of FT. Right now I'm a cash game player grinding of 25NL and moving up to 50NL pretty soon hopefully, which games do you guys think are the softest? Who has the biggest and loosest fish?

Hi All,
my name is Angelo i am from Italy,i am a new member here.. i play low range sng ,cash holdem omaha most time at full tilt... was just considering to change poker room cus of a couple of factors may be i will go to discuss in another post. I was tring a few new rooms (new to me) but i see not so many differences because "online poker" is online poker whichever room you play at ...you got what i mean....something like SSDR.. you know what i mean... whatever.. i wanted to post my first thread was wondering what kind of topic i could share your opinions about and it came in my mind meantime i was trining installing other poker clients to try (from Italy i have access denied by italian laws to 95% of poker rooms mainpages, poker setups fetures etc.. depends to wich site .. i can run browser via proxy to get access and download setups but for example i cant play
partypoker.com because they were patching the setup as soon as the installer says i m goin to install the client on a italian version of windows it blocks..same for the download link from the server.. if i want to play
partypoker i m forced to play partypoker.it wich has no cash games.. its totally a different platform .. cus online cash is forbidden and illegal in Italy... same for pokerstars, betfair etc.etc.)..it came in my mind someone from US can help me cus US players have kinda the same situation of italian players.. i dont know if they have links forbidden from Unites States to poker rooms or they simply cant connect.. this i dont know ... but i know US players had problems to withdrawn money etc.. (this i would want to know)
In 2006 (if i m not wrong) Italian governament said online poker in Italy is illegal ,illegal to provide illegal to be played but if you give a fee to the state is not illegal anymore and if you wanna play online poker you must play only in the rooms they are taking the money from so if in full tilt for example we have $ 5 + 0.50 tny , in pokerstars.IT we must play tournaments wich are Euro 3 + 0.96 for example lol .. or something like this ... than the game is legal ...
Of course US players have a lot of poker rooms they are welcome at..
i dont know how it will end there if US government will ever make a law where they says 100% online poker is legal .. i hope they will .. for poker for players who loves poker like i do.. for the hold em sport.. cus to me is a sport...
During these days i was tring to run a couple of poker clients via proxy ,
to overpass those restrictions what i have here in Italy.... i know how to configurate browsers via proxy but i am going mad how i can run a poker client via proxy ..anybody has suggestions or someone of you can help me trought this?
Thank you before all :)

Are there any others?

who ever invented short stack strategy should of been shot at birth. Its so annoyin to find that 6 players on a full ring game are short stackers. Whats more annoyin is that these short stackers are shoving so light at times eg:
*Playin NL10 FR and its folded all around to the SB who has $2. He ships in $2 to try win $0.15 (great strat btw lol). I have AJs in the BB and call. He shows 92o. Now everytime it's folded around to his SB now he's jammin that $2 in every time. I would love to call him lightly but thats a leak in my game which im fixing.
Whos bright idea was this tho? Because i've seen so many SS'ers doin this in late pos going all-in and sometimes there doin it with rubbish. One dude even shoved 15BB's in a EP w/ J5s. He beat my AKo. Grrr. But what a noob.
It jus seems like these short stackers on stars are shoving in with any pair, most time premium hands and alot of rubbish aswell.
Is there strat tryin to p!ss ppl off or is it the same old "risk less $$ to win $$"
Seriously tho this strat rubbish IMO. Are they too scared to jam in a 100BB stack and loose or are they jus happy winning 20BB's?
I mite move over to FTP bcos they have 30BB minimum dont they? But wont u jus get 30BB short stackers then? Argh I hate them and my head hurts!!! :(

Hi you guys.. I am finally ready to play 10 to 20 dollar Sit n Go's
If your personality is kinda like i described mine , and you have the same goals , What set up do you recommend I try out ?
My personality fit's ring games much better than Sit n Go's .. I like to mix it up and after I am comfortable I really play good even when taking multiple bad beats..
I have been learning from this site and others that Sit N Go's are way more profitable and I see the logic behind it.
If I decide to go the Sit N Go route , Should I play double or nothing before the 9 seater regular Sit N Go ?
Also Is
Titan poker So much more easier to beat the sit n go's than at pokerstars?
Thanks for your time ,
Sincerely Tony
-
I have found a glaring leak in my low stake cash game and am looking for advice to fix it. I loose all my money out of the blinds, and am profitable in every other position. I guess the easy fix is to just always fold, but that's not learning the game. What I would like to know is if I'm going to play a hand out of the blinds should I just always re-raise and only play hands that I feel comfortable doing this with? How do you guys play out of the blinds? Do you look at it as the price of sitting with the table, and are ok with giving them up easily?
-
It seems all too often when I am all in pre flop or on the flop, or even on some occasions, on the turn... with the BEST hand.... i get rivered. This can happen back to back or one hand after another on seperate tables. On top of that... it is people playing ridiculous gut shots or calling an all in on the turn with a flush draw and hitting....
So the question is..... when playing online... should I start calling All in with middle pairs or any sort of draw. Logic, strategy and theory say: NO... stick to the plan. However, expereince says: HELL YES!!
FullTilt... making my poker life a misery

Thought i share with everyone my new tilt theme. It is not actually my design but its a free theme i happen to find. Its of mario. It includes table theme, avatars of mario characters, chips, and includes a color deck also. I enjoy it since i am a huge mario fan. Just let me kno if u would like to try it. send a pm and i will make a zip file of everything and help with how to install it. Well here is a screen shot of it. Also i have multitabled up until about 12 tables wit it on a 20' screen so it does work but takes a lil getting use too. I mainly do 6-9 tables and works beautifully.

We are playing a dealers choice and some of the players feel that it is desirable to create their own new games.
As time marchs on you lose players and with these crazy games its hard to recruit new players.
Any good ideas as to how to get these players to contain and restrain their enthusiasm for their demon spawn so that we can have full tables?

KK vs. KK
AJ hitting runner runner to beat KK on a board of AK2-A-J
J5o > KK
Straight flush on BB special as 3c2c beats Jc9c and 44 on board of 5c4c5s - Ac - 7s

I have been playing mainly on a non-US site (PKR) and have been experimenting on best times to play in terms of traffic but also looser games.I havent come to any definitive conclusions yet but was wondering if anyone has any thoughts/tips/info on this subject. I have gone on late at the tables where Europeans are in the hopes that late players are tired or drunk (unless I am lol) but havent really seen more loose playing then in the morning. Anyway, what d o yall think about this?

Limit Hold 'Em used to be a boring way to pass the time. Now, playing micros anyway, I'm winning like a pro!;) I've been playing it for the past week on the cash tables and today used some money I had on PS to play in a couple of 6 man SnGs. I've won 2 of the SnGs and took 2nd in another. My graph for cash has a nice big up streak instead of a down streak.
I went to the SnGs today because I hit a little turbulence in the cash games. I didn't really lose anything but my graph for the day was looking like the rocky mountains. I figured I'd change it up a bit and see how that worked.
Does anyone know of some good strat stuff that I could look at the is free? I've checked out some stuff on here. I'm just looking for anything that might help me out.:D
